Drama

Our Transition Year students participate in National TY Drama Festival each year.
They have performed in both the Taibhdearc and the Briery Gap.

Last year one of our TY groups came third in the National Final with their production of Anton Checkov’s ‘The Brute’. This year’s class are doing an adaptation of Jenny Mullinder’s “Outcast”.

The second group of TY students entered An Fheile Scoildramáiochta / Feile na Mumhan. This was the first time we entered an Irish drama competition.

A Drama and Theatre Workshop has been available as an optional lunchtime activity for 1st and 2nd year students since September 2008.

The Workshops have been facilitated by Eleanor Feeley, Artist in residence with Clare County Council Arts Programme.

The workshops help develop and encourage students appreciation for the performing arts while discovering their own individual creative gifts and strenghts.

Congratulations to our Transition Year class who won two awards at the All Ireland Finals of the TY Drama Festival in the Briery Gap Macroom on Saturday 27th February 2010 with their play, "An Triail"

Our students won a "Best Irish Language Award" and a "Special Award" for the laundry scene.
