As part of their TY Geography programme each TY class undertakes a study of coastal processes in Liscannor Bay, Co. Clare. This is carried out under the direction of Colin Bunce from the Burren Outdoor Education Centre with the assistance of our TY Geography Teaching Team.
Our TY students will undertake this practical fieldwork on 2nd & 3rd April 2019.
Students will be required:
To examine the effects of coastal erosion
To determine the direction of longshore drift and measure wind and wave activity today.
To examine how pebbles are deposited on a beach
To observe human interaction with coastal erosion
The fieldwork involves the students in active participation in relevant measurement, observations and recording; as well as advice on follow up work and report presentation.
